Opportunities | Sign Up

Billie Creek Village provides two basic categories of volunteer positions. Those positions are Interpretive and in Visitor Services.

Interpretive

This is your opportunity to be a historical interpreter, teaching and educating the public in the history of Parke County and Western Indiana agriculture and rural life. You will receive written materials and scripts and on-going training. Period clothing is encouraged but must be provided by you.

Visitor Services
  • Retail Clerk at the General Store
  • Assisting with special events through the season, such as the Maple Sugar Festival, Civil War Days, School Days, Steam Harvest Days and Tractor Show, Farmstead Dinners, Covered Bridge Festival and others.
  • Maintenance of our gardens at the farmstead and in the village; office duties; helping construct period clothing; various duties related to the identification, display, care and maintenance of artifacts, care and feeding of the animals, driving the mule and horse wagons during special events and during the summer season, working in the admission office and orienting the general visitor and school groups to both the Farmstead and Village.
  • One unique opportunity is to serve as a "step aboard" interpreter and guide for one of the many bus tours that visit throughout the year.
